Frequently Asked Questions

On this page you will find answers to many questions we frequently get asked.

If I listen online of my mobile, how much download will I use?

We currently stream our live service at 96kbps. We do this to minimise the amount of data you need to download whilst maintianing excelptional audio quality. The following information will give you an indication of your data usage to listen to our live stream:

1 minute = 0.72 megabytes
1 hour = 43.2 megabytes
1 day = 1 gigabyte

Why is the reception on my FM radio scratchy?

The broadcast setup for our free-to-air service is different to other radio stations. Instead of having one big transmitter on top of Mt Wellington, we have a network of low powered transmitters located around Hobart. At the moment our broadcast network is designed to service the immedate Hobart city area and surrounding suburbs.

More transmitter sites will be in service very soon that will bring our free-to-air service to the Northern Suburbs, Kingston and Sorell. Plans are also underway to bring our service other parts of Tasmania and the rest of Australia. We're also lobbying the Australian Communications Authority so that we can get a broadcast licnese that will allow us to broadcast using more powerful transmitters. Your continued support will help us in this quest.
