Several weeks ago Madonna's manager announced to the world via twitter that she is beginning work on her twelth studio album. Almost simulataneously the web was alive with rumours of which producers would work on the album, with many stating that Madonna's label had arranged for Lady Gaga's producer RedOne to work with the queen of pop.

Madonna most recently employed well known producers Pharell Williams and Timbaland to produce her album Hard Candy, which was touted as derivitave in sound and far from Madges best work which is renowned for setting trends, not conforming to them. So it will come as a relief to fans that she has declined to work with RedOne and is instead scheduled to work with house producer Martin Solveig.

Madonna has an illustrious history of recognising and utilising the talents of producers that were seemingly unknown to the pop industry, or at least its fans. Producers like Mirwais Ahmadzai, William Orbit and Stuart Price have all produced hits for Madge and it appears that she may well test her successful recipe for success once again.

Another good reason for shelving the RedOne idea could very well be the fact that he is so well known for his work on Lady Gaga's tracks and that Gaga is being celebrated as a modern day material girl. The impending battle for popularity between Madonna and Lady Gaga is shaping up to be one of the most defining periods of Madonna's entire career.
