Cr2 Live & Direct
Mark Brown has been one of the main driving forces behind dance music's success for the last decade. During his time as a prolific label boss at EMI's influential dance outlet Credence and now his very own Cr2 imprint, Mark has a unique success story with numerous accolades; of which his proudest is being responsible for launching the careers of many of dance music's most successful artists including Dirty Vegas, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello and Fedde Le Grand. Starting EMI's Credence label back in 2000, Mark signed massive acts including Brit-boys Dirty Vegas whose album subsequently sold over 2 million copies world-wide and was #7 in the American charts. Their single 'Days Gone By' won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording and went Top Ten in the UK. Due to Marks legendary A&R skills Credence went on to win Label of the Year 2003 in IDJ magazine. After acquiring his uncompromising talent for signing huge acts, Mark continued his success by setting up his very own label in 2004 called Cr2. The label has signed massive dance anthems over the years such as Steve Angello Vs Eric Prydz - 'Woz Not Woz', The Egg – 'Walking Away' and Fedde Le Grand's 'Put your Hand's up for Detroit', thus propelling these artists into the mainstream. The label has an impressive history selling over 1.2 million records, over 200 quality releases and holding no less than 26 BBC Radio 1 Essential New Tunes. In the current climate where record labels are falling like fly's Cr2 remains to go from strength to strength and has recently celebrated its 5th anniversary. Mark's vision and philosophy is integral to the success of the label. Mark Explains… "Cr2's success has been down to the amount of hard work, passion and the belief that goes into our artists. Another key factor is the accessibility of cutting edge dance music and taking risks in our A&R development which have paid off for us." Mark has developed his Cr2 brand even further by hosting Cr2 events in Spain, America, France, Korea and the UK, enabling him to showcase his new signings in a club night format and establish his brand in new territories with DJs such as Kurd Maverick, Arno Cost & Dan Castro. As a solo DJ, Mark has played alongside some of the biggest names in the business such as Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, Chuckie and Erick Morillo. He has also appeared on a multitude of world-renowned radio shows including Pete Tong's Radio 1 Essential Mix, Dave Spoon's Radio 1 In New Music We Trust (INMWT) and Roger Sanchez's Galaxy show. |
